Teele Art Studio trip postponed to Saturday, November 9

Verbum Dei High School art class field trips hosted by Art teacher Allison Kennedy have returned for a fourth incarnation at Hawthorne’s Teele Art Studio, 13040 Cerise Avenue, Suite O, Hawthorne, CA.  The studio owner  contacted Kennedy that the original scheduled November 2 date was not feasible, so the trip was rescheduled for Saturday, November 9.

The due date to turn in permission slips has accordingly been extended as well. Students of any grade level interested in taking some sculpting lessons, should see Kennedy in Computer lab 1 to sign-up sheet and obtain a permission slip.  There are limited seats in the van; a maximum of five students can participate.

The time frame of the outing has drastically changed as well.  Instead of an early morning departure as originally planned, the van is going to depart Verb at 2:30 P.M. The whole trip to Teele Art Studio would take estimated three hours from 2:30 P.M.- 5:30 P.M.  Kennedy believes that the change of the length of the trip will not detract from the students’ learning the fundamentals of sculpting.

Fr. George Teodoro, SJ, and Kennedy will drive and provide supervision of the students throughout the trip.

“[The purpose of the trip is] to make art and see art professionally,” stated Kennedy. Kennedy organizes these trips so that students can learn from other professional artists who make their living from their creativity.

“It sounds like a lot of fun especially the sculpting lessons,” said senior John Madrigal, undeterred by the change of date and time. “I’m still going no matter what – I would like to learn to sculpt.”
