Chapter 2: Douglass suggests that the slaves sing out of sorrow rather than out of joy. What tools do human beings use to transcend difficulties? When you have difficulties, what things do you do to overcome them?

    Since time immemorial humans have relied on each other to cope with difficulties. In modern times we also have mental health professionals ( not often available or used in minority communities) & now social media. My faith and village are my sources of coping along with positive self talk
