Traditional Mass of the Holy Spirit celebrated

On August 22 Verbum Dei High School continued its 10-year tradition of celebrating the Mass of the Holy Spirit. All students attended this special mass; it is the only mass of the school year when all students are on campus at one time. Several benefactors and guests joined the celebration.

Verbum Dei Principal Dr. Dan O’Connell gave students a strong message during his reflection. “This year marks the 50th year of the school,” said O’Connell.  “Be like the thousands of Verbum Dei gentlemen who walked these hallowed corridors before you who have listened to God’s word—Verbum Dei—and said ‘yes.'”

The newly formed JEDIS (Jesuit Educated Disciples In Service) were initiated. This group of 12 junior and senior members plan and lead spiritual and faith based activities throughout the school year and represent Verbum Dei at various religious functions off campus. “You don’t achieve success by chasing girls, but if you achieve success, you get the girls,” said senior Darius Spates as he addressed his school mates.
