Events Supporting Verbum Dei

Mardi Gras

mardigras1The Verbum Dei High School annual Mardi Gras Dinner is a celebration and fund raiser for scholarships to support our students. It costs Verbum Dei about $15,000 to educate each student per year, while the tuition is only $2,700. However, families pay on average about $1,100 as no one is turned away for lack of funds. The Corporate Work Study Program generates on average just under $7,000 per student per year which goes directly toward their education. Some students, but not all, receive support from the Catholic Education Foundation. So, that leaves $5,100 to $6,900 per student each year that must be secured through fundraising efforts. And with 300 students, the gap is quite large. All sponsorships directly impact our students by providing much-needed scholarships to fill the funding gap.

Mardi Gras Pre Party

A Mardi Gras Pre Party is a small intimate reception where Verbum Dei supporters have the opportunity to learn about Verbum Dei and our yearly Mardi Gras Fundraiser Event. The receptions are held in the home of a Verbum Dei host family and they offer a fun and convenient way to support our students. Get to know other Verbum Dei supporters, meet students, and join in the fun for a little food and drinks.

If you are interested in hosting a Pre Party or for more information on the Verbum Dei Mardi Gras Event, please contact Stephanie Andrade at 323 564-6651, Ext. 5110 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Annual Adopt-A-Student Program Meet & Greet Event

meetgreet2On May 24, 2016, Verbum Dei had its 4th Annual Adopt-A-Student Program (AASP) Meet & Greet Event on the campus of Verbum Dei. Over 50 donors and participants of the Adopt-A-Student Program came to support their 'adopted' students.  The Year-End Event is a small reception where many AASP “Parents” get to meet their “sons,” often for the first time, as they’ve been corresponding throughout the year through letters, note cards, and assignments.

Through AASP, more than any other program we administer on campus, we develop men for others, as “parents” are use as models for our students to immolate so that they one day graduate college, lead successful lives, and of course one day, adopt their own student.

Please join us.
