Ignatian Family Teach-In

From November 11-16, 2010, a group of 12 students and 5 faculty/staff went to Washington, DC for a Social Justice Conference put on by the Ignatian Solidarity Network. The group lobbied to Congress for passage of the DREAM Act and Comprehensive Immigration Reform as well as Environmental Justice and closing of WHINSEC (School of the Americas) in Ft. Benning, Georgia. The students and staff participated in community service with We Are Family, a non-profit organization in Washington, DC that provides groceries for underprivileged senior citizens.

While in DC, the Immersion group toured the White House and Capitol building as well as received a private tour of the Floor of the House of Representatives. They toured the monuments on the National Mall and partook in leisure activities at night. They also met up with Verbum Dei alumni, David Price, Noel Mendoza, and Carlos Mercado who now attend Georgetown University, and received a private tour of the University from David Price.
